A new Trump real estate investment trust is coming to Galvesto.
The Galvestoner’s Office of Real Estate announced Thursday that it has filed paperwork with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to issue the company’s trademark to Donald Trump.
Trump’s real estate and real estate-related companies, including Trump International Hotel & Casino, are registered trademarks of the Trump Organization.
The Galvestón-based company, which has an office in San Antonio, is not related to Trump or his family.
The filing comes less than a week after Trump told the San Antonio Express-News that he has purchased two properties in the city.
The president-elect said in a tweet Thursday that he “sold 2 properties in San Diego.”
The Trump Organization does not have a formal office in the state.
The news comes as the Trump administration prepares to release an economic plan that would be unveiled next week.
The plan is expected to include tax cuts and other economic policy changes that would benefit the president-to-be’s businesses.
